Luzzati is “unique in multiplicity”
Mario Piazza
Luzzati, with his apparently innocent wit and sharp intelligence, used to write about his dear friend Flavio Costantini that he was “unique”. An apt and precise word that defined his value and at the same time the impossibility of classifying him. Resorting to the same expression, we could say that Luzzati is “unique in multiplicity”.
To speak of Luzzati as a poster designer, graphic designer and author, we cannot but note his unique style, sign, his natural way of telling a story in visual form, his theatrical inventiveness. At the same time, it also refers to Luzzati the set designer, illustrator, pottery maker, painter, sculptor, artist, theatrical performer, storyteller, animation wizard, and inventor of magic boxes.
Posters feed on all the above, while coexisting in the constant flow of verbal communication: their story turned into vision. There is a great freedom in all of them, leaving intact the need for information of the moment (the show, the exhibition, ...), and fully aware that this rectangular sheet of paper is just a fragment of a composite and larger work. Some sort of constantly moving, constantly bright, never ending milky way, born out of candour, calm, and the pleasure of doing.
